SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA
The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano, California was called to
order by Mayor Swerdlin at 8:07 a.. in. in the City Council Chamber.

Gil Jones, Mayor pro tem
Collene Campbell, Council Member
John Greiner, Council Member
Wyatt Hart, Council Member

STAFF PRESENT: George Scarborough, City Manager; Richard K. Denhalter, City Attorney;
Cheryl Johnson, City Clerk.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (Limited to Action Items on Agenda)
None
CLQSED SESSIQN
Council recessed to a Closed Session at 8:07 p.m. for the following purposes, as authorized by
statute:
1. Public Employee Appointment, Pursuant to Government Code Section 54957, to consider
the temporary, interim appointment to the City Attorney position.
2. Conference with Legal Counsel - Anticipated Litigation, pursuant to Government Code
Section 54956.9(b), for significant exposure to litigation in 2 cases and Government Code
Section 54956.9(c), the initiation of litigation in 2 cases.
The City Clerk was excused from the Closed Session and the meeting reconvened at 9:40 p.m.
ACTIONS FOLLONYING CLOSED SESSION
Mayor Swerdlin reported that the City Manager had been authorized to negotiate a contract with
Woodruff, Spradlin and Smart for interim, temporary City Attorney services. The motion had carried
unanimously. There was not action to report on the remaining item.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 9:40 p.m. to the
next meeting date of Tuesday, February 4, 1997, at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

CALIFORNIA, HEREBY GIVES NOTICE THAT A SPECIAL MEETING WILL
BE HELD ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 1997, AT 8:00 A.M. IN THE CITY
COUNCIL CHAMBER, 32400 PASEO ADELANTO, SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONVENING A CLOSED SESSION WITH RESPECT
TO THE BELOW -STATED ITEMS:
