PLUMBING CODE FEES
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO,
CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A PLUMBING PERMIT FEE
SCHEDULE AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 269
(URGENCY)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Recitations.
a. The City of San Juan Capistrano has heretofore
adopted by reference Ordinance No. 2743 of the
County of Orange which in turn adopted the Uniform
Plumbing Code, 1973 Edition with certain exceptions
and amendments thereto.
b. Effective July 1, 1978, the City of San Juan.
Capistrano will undertake the administration of
all functions relating to the issuance of permits
and enforcement of ordinances relating to building
and safety.
SECTION 2. Amendments.
That portion of County of Orange Ordinance No. 2743
adopted by City of San Juan Capistrano Ordinance No. 269 and
appearing as a part of Section 7-3-14 of the Codified Ordinances
of the County of Orange and setting forth the plumbing permit
Schedule of Fees is amended to read as follows:

PLUMBING PLAN CHECK FEE
A plan check fee shall be paid at the time of submitting plans
including revisions, alterations and additions as follows:
I. Large Installations
For plan checking a plumbing system within the building
where work includes fixtures that discharge more than
180 waste fixture units: ..
A. Complete project (all systems except fire sprinkler,
irrigation sprinkler and swimming pool piping):
1. Apartment buildings, three stories and lower:
25 -percent of the permit fee.
2. All other buildings: 50 percent of the permit
fee.
B. Individual systems:
1. Potable water and standpipe systems only:
60 percent of the applicable fee in Item (A)
above, $15.00 minimum.
2. Conventional waste and vent systems only:
40 percent of the applicable fee in item (A)
above, $10.00 minimum.
3. All other systems: Fee shall be as shown in
subsection (2) below.

FIRE SPRINKLER PLAN CHECK FEE
I. Fire Sprinklers
A. Each building (including underground piping):
1. One through 500 heads:
a. When no hydraulic calculations are
required to be submitted, 25 percent
of permit fee, $15.00 minimum.
b. When hydraulic calculations are
required, 50 percent of permit fee,
$40.00 minimum.
2. 501 heads and over, 50 percent of permit fee.
B. Underground piping when not part of a sprinkler
plan, each system ...........................$ 15.00
C. Carbon dioxide system, each building........ 40.00
SECTION 3. Effective Date.
This is an Urgency Ordinance to preserve the health,
safety and welfare of the City of San Juan Capistrano, and shall,
accordingly, become effective July 1, 1978. The reasons for the
urgency are that, on July 1, 1978, the City of San Juan Capistrano
will undertake the full responsibility for the issuance of plumbing
permits within the City limits; a fee schedule reflecting the
current cost of providing such services is necessary to preserve
and maintain the fiscal well-being of the City.
SECTION 4. Clerk's Certification.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause same to be posted in the duly designated
posting places within the City of San Juan Capistrano within
fifteen (15) days after its passage.
