AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF TITLE 4 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADOPTING THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE,
1982 EDITION, TOGETHER WITH CERTAIN AMENDMENTS,
STANDARDS, SUPPLEMENTS AND APPENDICES THERETO,
AND DELETING THE 1979 EDITION OF THAT SAME UNIFORM
FIRE CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Additions and Amendments.
Title 4, Chapter 2, Public Safety Code of the City of
San Juan Capistrano Municipal Code is hereby amended as follows:
1. Section 4-2.101, Adoption of the Uniform Fire Code, is
hereby amended by the following:
The two references to the 1979 Edition are hereby
amended to read as the 1982 Edition;
The reference to the 1981 Accumlative Supplement
is hereby amended to read as the 1983 Accumlative
Supplement; and,
The reference to Appendices A through I thereto,
is hereby amended by deleting A through I to read
as Appendices thereto.
2. Section 4-2.104.1 is hereby added to read as follows:
"Section 4-2.104.1.
Amendments: Section 10.206:
Obstruction of Fire Protection
Equipment.
"Section 10.206 of said Fire Code is hereby amended
by adding a sentence thereto at the end of the
section to read as follows:
"Any person violating this section shall be guilty
of an infraction."

3. Section 4-2.106, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 4-2.106. Amendments: Section 10.209:
Key Boxes.
"Section 10.209 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 10.209. Key Boxes."
Subsections (a), (b), and (c) shall be retained in
their entirety.
4. Section 4-2.107, Amendments: Section 10.403: Smoke
Detectors, is hereby amended by changing the reference
to the 1979 Edition to read as the 1982 Edition.
5. Section 4-2.108, Amendments: Section 12.114: Malls,
is hereby deleted in its entirety.
6. Section 4-2.111, Amendments: Section 79.709: Safety
Rules, is hereby deleted and a new Section 4-2.111 is
added in its place to read as follows:
"Section 4-2.111. Amendments: Section 79.902:
Extinguishers.
"Subsection (i) of Section 79.902 of said Fire
Code is hereby added to read as follows:
"Section 79.902. Storage.
"(i) A fire extinguisher of a minimum
classification of 2A:20-B:C shall be located
so that no pump, dispenser, or fill pipe
opening shall be a greater distance than
seventy-five (751) feet from such
extinguisher."
7. Section 4-2.112, Amendments: Section 79.710: Marine
Service Stations, is hereby amended to show all
references to Section 79.710 as Section 79.910.
8. Section 4-2.114, Amendments: Appendix E: Suppression
and Control of Hazardous Fire Areas, is hereby amended
to show all references to Appendix E as Appendix II -A.

SECTION 2. Effective Date.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
(30) days after its passage.
SECTION 3. City Clerk's Certification.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause same to be posted at the duly designated
posting places within the City of San Juan Capistrano within
fifteen (15) days after its passage.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of
November 1 1983 , by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Friess, Buchheim, Schwartze,
and Mayor Bland
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: Councilman
ABSENT: None
