AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO,
CALIFORNIA, ADDING CHAPTER 20, "SMOKING IN PUBLIC
PLACES", TO TITLE 5, "PUBLIC WELFARE", OF THE SAN JUAN
CAPISTRANO MUNICIPAL CODE

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Code Amendment.
Chapter 20 entitled, "Smoking in Public Places", is hereby added to Title 5,
"Public Welfare", of the Municipal Code to read as follows:
"CHAPTER 20 SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES"
Section 5-20.01. Smoking Prohibited in City Buildings
Where Designated.
The smoking of cigars, cigarettes, or other tobacco products, and the chewing
of tobacco products, is prohibited within all public areas of those City buildings as
designated by City Council Resolution.
Section 5-20.02. Signs to be Posted.
City buildings covered by this chapter shall have visible and conspicuous signs
posted informing the public of the prohibition of this chapter.
Section 5-20.03. Exceptions.
Any public building covered by this chapter which is utilized under rental
agreement with the City for private parties, conferences, or other similar functions,
shall not be subject to this no smoking prohibition."
