AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 9, CHAPTER 4, SECTION
9-4.303(b) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO MODIFY HOUSEHOLD
SIZE FOR DETERMINING PARK LAND REQUIREMENTS FOR
RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Findings.
A. In accordance with California Government Code Section 66477, the
average size of each class of household shall be "the same as that
disclosed by the most recent available Federal Census."
B. The City has received the 1990 Census which identifies the average size
of each class of household.
C. Based upon this recent Federal Census, changes in household sizes have
occurred from 1980 and needs to be modified.
D. This ordinance amends the household size consistent with the provisions
of California Government Code 66477.
SECTION 2. Amendment.
Section 9-4.303(b) of the Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
(b) Household size. In order to compute the number of persons being brought
into the City by a given residential project, it is necessary to multiply
the number of units by an average household size standard for each type
of unit. Section 66477 of the Government Code of the State stated that
the average size of each class of household shall be "the same as that
disclosed by the most recent available Federal Census." In accordance
with said requirements, the average household size for the City, as
derived from the 1990 census is:
Single Family detached dwelling units -
3.2 persons per dwelling unit.
Attached units, including duplex, town -house and apartments -
2.9 persons per dwelling unit.
Mobile Homes -
1.8 persons per dwelling unit.

SECTION 3. Effective Date.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days after its

same to be published once as required by law and posted at the duly designated posting
places within the City of San Juan Capistrano within fifteen (15) days after its passage.
