ORDINANCE NO. 752
AMENDMENT TO TITLE 1 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE -
EXPANSION OF CITATION AUTHORITY OF CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING TITLE 1, CHAPTER 5 OF THE SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
MUNICIPAL CODE BY REPEALING SECTION I-5.03 TO EXPAND THE
CITATION AUTHORITY OF CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS
WHEREAS, the enforcement of the provisions of the Municipal Code is an important element
in the orderly and harmonious use and enjoyment of the special and unique characteristics of San Juan
Capistrano; and,
WHEREAS, the ability to issue citations by Code Enforcement Officials is an integral pad
of the effective enforcement of codes and ordinances that regulate land uses within the community; and,
WHEREAS, the issuance of a citation by qualified, trained, and committed Code
Enforcement Officials has a direct beneficial effect on the ability to obtain compliance with notices to correct
violations; and,
WHEREAS, the increased focus of Code Enforcement Officials in areas of enforcement
presents a need to expand citation authority beyond sign regulations; and,
WHEREAS, effective code enforcement is necessary to achieve the goals of the General Plan.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
repealed.
SECTION 1. Roealer.
Title 1, Chapter 5 of the San Juan Capistrano Municipal Code is hereby amended as follows:
Section 1-5.03, Limited Enforcement Duties of the Code Enforcement Official, is hereby
SECTION 2. Severability.
If any provision, clause, sentence or paragraph of this ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstances shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions of this
ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions
of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 3. Effective Date.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days after its passage.

SECTION 4. City Clerk's Certification.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause the same to be
published once as required by law and posted at the duly designated posting places within the City of San Juan
Capistrano within fifteen (15) days after its passage.
