3/22/2011
Council Comments:
• Clarified that the intent of the City Council was to form an ad-hoc committee,
not a mayoral subcommittee; the Mayoral Budget Subcommittee comprised
of Mayor Allevato and Council Member Reeve were to appoint impartial
members of the public with financial background to the ad-hoc committee;
preference in selecting Ray Miller, Utilities Commissioner and an individual
with auditing knowledge, or with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
background; and withdrew objection to select Jim Reardon and John Perry to
the ad-hoc committee.
• Felt that the City Council should be involved every year with the City's
annual audit; and felt that the committee should be comprised of individuals
with strong financial background.
• Preference in appointing Jim Reardon and John Perry to ad-hoc committee
as they have practical knowledge in finance, knowledge of
government and are critics of the Utilities Department and the
Community Redevelopment Agency.
• Important for the ad-hoc committee to have a narrow role such as focusing
on areas within the Utilities Department and the Community Redevelopment
Agency, in order not to lose its value.
• Important for the members of the ad-hoc committee to be impartial.
