The regul.r meeting of the City C7u^cil was called to order at 7:32 p.m. by
r'iayor Carl E. duchheim.
The pledge of allegiance to the flag was recited. The invocation was riven
by Karl Wray, publisher of t;:e Coastline Dispatch 'Qe;rspaper.
The Cit Cleric called the roll; Councilmen oresent ,were: '.iilliam A. lath_

Crange County concerning the hazard existin on the oriv�te road to the airport,
he _felt th4t it ;was not the resoonsi'oilici of the Cit- and public funds coul" not
be spent on private roads, .which was agreei by the Coancil.

Mr. 3obert L. Smith spoke in protest of the 3usine3s License, in which he
felt th.t the license fee was immoral and that it was a fallacy to have the city
license tax. He felt that ti.are rere better ;ways to raise revenue t".;n ":rough
taxation and should find a free ent,�rcrise :;a,y to raiae revenue.

The list of demands and accounts payable on April 1, 1953, was submitted by
the City 'Treasurer, mice Ross.
Councilman Bathgate objected to the purchase of 6 chairs for tlee Council, he
felt that a Coancil table was i:� need more than the chairs, in which. Councilrnan
Olivares agreed.
