66-0419_CC_Minutes_Adjourned Regular MeetingMinutes of the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of San Juan Capi::trano APRIL 19, 1966 The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM by Mayor Don Durnford. The pledge of allegiance was recited. Invocation was given by City Administrator Ernest A. Thompson. Councilmen present: William A. Bathgate, Carl E. Buchheim, Edward. S. Chermak, Antonio M. (Tony) Olivares and Don Durnford. The City Administrator presented actual qualified votes, certified by Inspector Martha D. Barnes, to Council. There were 427 ballots cast. Don Durnford 300 votes Antonio M. Olivares 287 votes Ben E. Daniels 146 votes Marco F. Forster 228 votes Lucana Isch 216 votes There were 421 ballots and 6 absentee ballots. City Administrator presented copies of resolution entitled, "A Resoluticn of the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano, California, reciting the fact of the General Municipal Election held in said City of San Juan Capistrano on the 12th day of April 1966, declaring the result thereof and such other matters as are provided by law", for perusal by Council. Councilman Chermak offered Resolution No. 66_4_19_1 for adoption. The resolution was passed, approved and adopted by unanimous vote. Councilman Chermak then stated that serving on the Council had been an education and that it was edifying to see City progressing and stated pleasure at having served on Council. Mayor Durnford offered a standing ovation to Councilman Chermak. The City Clerk administered oath of office to Councilman Don Durnford, Narco F. Forster and Antonio M. Olivares. He then relieved Councilman Durnford of duties of Mayor. Councilman Olivares nominated Councilman Durnford for Mayor. Councilmar: Bathgate moved that nomination be closed. Councilman Buchheim seconded motion and it carried unanimously. Don Durnford declared Mayor by acclamation. Councilman Buchheim, seconded by Mayor Durnford, nominated Antonio M. Olivares as Mayor Pro -Tem. Councilman Forster moved that nominations be closed. Councilman Buchheim seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. Councilman Olivares declared Mayor Pro -Tem. `LO UNFINISHED BUSINESS (a) Previously appointed Committee to examine Greenlee property sewer line immediately following meeting. Councilman Forster then appointed to the Committee, replacing former Councilman Chermak. (b) Councilman Bathgate inquired as to status of Richfield sign. City Adminis- trator stated Richfield to hold sign demonstration 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 20, 1966, on site. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:25 PM Tuesday, April 19, 1966. JVc� rnest A.
