65-1229_CC_Minutes_Special Meeting�3 Minutes of the Special Meeting of the City Council of San Juan Capistrano NOVEMBER 29, 1965 The Special Meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:35 PM by Mayor Don Durnford. Councilmen present were: William A. Bathgate, Carl E. Buchheim, Edward S. Chermak, Antonio M. (Tony) Olivares and Don Durnford. Absent: None EXECUTIVE SESSION - COMMITTEE REPORT Director of Public Works, T. J. Meadows, reported on selection of operator for sewer treatment plant. He stated that he, along with Mr. Ed Sampson and Mr. Joe Feeney of Engineering - Science, Inc., and City Administrator, Ernest A. Thompson, had interviewed six applicants for the position. In the final analysis, Mr. Virgil C. "Hap" Frazier, was chosen as plant operator due to previous experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of mechanism such as that associated with the operation of the new plant. Councilman Buchheim made a motion that Virgil C. "Hap" Frazier, be offered the position as operator of the sewer treatment facility, beginning December 1, 1965, at the salary rate of $600.00 per month, subject to medical approval. The motion was seconded by Councilman Bathgate and carried unanimously. So ordered. After discussion of Mr. Frazier's physical capability in accepting this position, Councilman Buchheim moved that T. J. Meadows and Mayor Durnford personally contact Mr. Frazier's physician, Dr. Joseph Bray, to ascertain his physical condition. The motion was seconded by Councilman Bathgate and carried unanimously. So ordered. Due to the time element being so critical, Council decided on a second choice for this position. Councilman Chermak made a motion that Edward Vallavanti be designated as first alternate in case Mr. Frazier is unable physically to accept the position, subject to the same condition as above stated. The motion was seconded by Councilman Buchheim, and passed by a unanimous vote. So ordered. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM. Leontine M. Vallavanti //- z.y-6.r
