SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA
The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano, California was called
to order by Mayor Jones at 11:03 a.m. in the City Council Chamber.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Gil Jones, Mayor
John Greiner, Mayor pro tem
Wyatt Hart, Council Member
David M. Swerdlin, Council Member
ABSENT: Collett Campbell, Council Member
STAFF PRESENT: George Scarborough, City Manager; Jennifer Murray, Assistant City Manager;
John Shaw, Interim City Attorney; Cheryl Johnson, City Clerk; Cynthia L. Pendleton, Administrative
Services Director; Lt. Paul Sullivan, Orange County Sheriffs Department.

ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS
CITY CLERK
1. CITY CLERK'S CERTIFICATION THAT THERE ARE NOT MORE
CANDIDATES THAN OFFICES TO BE ELECTED (630.20)
Written Communications:
Report dated August 10, 1998, from the City Clerk, forwarding a Certification that as of the
close of nominations for the November 3, 1998, General Municipal Election, there were not
more candidates for office than offices to be elected. The Certification, presented pursuant
to Elections Code Section 10229, set forth the courses of action available to the Council and
advised that a Notice of these facts would be published on August 12, 1998. The City
Council will meet on August 18, 1998, to take action.
The City Clerk made an oral presentation.
With the consensus of Council, Mayor Jones directed that the Report be received and filed.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 11:07 a.m. to the
next regular meeting date of Tuesday, August 18, 1998, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
