SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO CITY COUNCIL
Special Meeting
Mayor Gelff called the Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of San Juan
Capistrano, California, to order at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
ROLL CALL
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Wyatt Hart, David M. Swerdlin, Mayor pro tem Joe
Soto, and Mayor John S. Gelff. Diane Bathgate joined the meeting at 4:08
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Meg Monahan, City Clerk and John Shaw, City Attorney
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None
CLOSED SESSION (610.85)
Pursuant to Government Code section 54957, the City Council held a closed session
concerning the vacant City Manager position.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF CLOSED SESSION
At 4:15 p.m. John Shaw, City Attorney announced that the City Council made a
unanimous decision to select David Adams as the City's new City Manager. Adams
currently holds the position of City Manager for Agoura Hills, California. Staff was
directed to prepare a preliminary agreement for the Council's review on November 18,
2003.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mayor Gelff adjourned the meeting at 4:15 p.m. to
Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 5:00 p.m., for Closed Session and 7:00 p.m. for the
public Business Session.
