I have received and reviewed your letter of September 19, 2016, in which you returned the $100 annual rent
check we proffered under the terms of the License Agreement.
We do not accept that we have a month to month tenancy, or that the License Agreement has expired. Our
previous correspondence with the City has set forth our position. We do wish to remain tenants in good standing with
the City. That is why we sent the check for the full annual amount. Based on your estimates of the bidding and sale
process, we should expect to occupy the property at least until our current season ends in June 2017 — more than six
months from the renewal date of October 1.
Please let me know the amount the City expects we are required to pay at this time. We will be happy to submit
that amount, since that's our duty as tenants under the License Agreement.
We understand the situation involving the sales process for the property upon which the Camino Real Playhouse
is located. We will be offering a bid with a proposal for a wonderful addition to our city that will include a Performing
Arts Center. We remain hopeful that we can work with the City, its sales brokers, and other stakeholders to create a
solution to these issues that will allow the Playhouse to continue to flourish as part of the San Juan community.
Your support and cooperation with us in this effort to find and develop an appropriate performing arts center in
San Juan Capistrano is eagerly anticipated and gratefully accepted.
