SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO CITY COUNCIL RETREAT
ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
Mayor Ferguson called the Adjourned Regular Meeting Retreat of the
City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano to order at 9:09 a.m. at
Marie Callender's Restaurant, located at 31791 Del Obispo Street,
San Juan Capistrano.
ROLL CALL
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Derek Reeve, Pam Patterson, Esq., Brian L. Maryott,
Mayor Pro Tern Sergio Farias and Mayor Kerry K. Ferguson.
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None.
Agenda items are presented in the originally agendized format for the benefit of the
minutes' reader, but were not necessarily heard in that order.
Ben Siegel, City Manager, facilitated the retreat. Mayor Ferguson, provided opening
comments.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC COMMENTS :
The following individuals provided input on the City Council's goals and priorities:
• John Campbell, City resident; Erin Kutnick Beyer, City resident; Rhen Kohan,
City resident; Mark Bodenhamer, Chamber of Commerce; Mark Speros,
City resident; Kim McCarthy, City resident; Eva Crabbs, City resident; Jan Siegel,
City resident; Caecilia Gotama, City resident; Steve Behmerwohld, City resident;
Jeff Vasquez, City resident; Richard Tune, City resident; Abbigail Weiser,
City resident; Clint Worthington, City resident; Moira Nonnweiler, City resident; and,
Ann Ronan, City resident.
CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION OF GOALS AND PRIORITIES, AND POSSIBLE
DIRECTION TO STAFF:
1. PRESENTATION ON ACCOMPLISHMENTS, STATUS OF CURRENT
PRIORITIES AND BUDGET OUTLOOK; AND, CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION AND
DIRECTION ON GOALS AND PRIORITIES, PROVIDED (610.70)
Ben Siegel, City Manager, provided a PowerPoint presentation .
• Public Comments: Unknown speaker (name and residence not provided); Anna
Dickinson, City resident; and, William Bonney, City resident.
Council Action: Moved by Mayor Pro Tern Farias, seconded by Council Member
Patterson and carried 4-1, with Mayor Ferguson opposed to have
Ben Siegel, City Manager, facilitate the retreat.

NOES: COUNCIL MEMBER: Mayor Ferguson
ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBER: None
Council Action: Moved by Mayor Ferguson, seconded by Council Member
Patterson and carried unanimously to direct the City Manager to bring back at a
future meeting a report with the input received at the retreat.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business Mayor Ferguson adjourned the meeting at 1:00 p.m., to
Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. for Closed Session, and 5:00 p.m. for the
pu bic~ siness Session , in the City Council Chamber.
