APPROVAL OF OPTION AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE PROPERTY
LOCATED IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN AREA (DARNOLD) (406.20)
Written Communications:
Report dated March 19, 1985, from the Executive Director,
advising that the approved Master Plan for the Historic Town
Center proposes a realignment of Ortega Highway to run
behind El Peon and intersect with Camino Capistrano at
Verdugo Street; that the owner of the E1 Peon parking lot
had initiated discussions regarding acquisition of the lot.
It was decided that rather than outright purchase at this
time, the Agency and Mr. Darnold would enter into an
agreement giving the Agency the option to purchase the
property at any time within the next three years. The
purchase price would be determined by the appraisal
currently being conducted. The agreement provides that in
consideration for granting the option, Mr. Darnold is to
receive the sum of $15,000; in the event the Agency acquires
the property within the next three years, the $15,000 will
be applicable as a deposit toward the purchase price. The
ultimate acquisition price is expected to be approximately
$300,000 to $350,000.
Approval of Agreement:
It was moved by Director Buchheim, seconded by Director
Friess and unanimously carried to approve the Option
Agreement between the Agency and Michael James Darnold and
to ratify the action of the Executive Director by
authorizing the Chairman and Agency Secretary to execute the
Agreement on behalf of the Agency.
