ROLL CALL Present: Janet Siegel, Vice -Chair Lorie Porter Don Tryon Absent: Nathan Banda, Chair Ed Nunez (excused) Staff: Teri Delcamp, Historic Preservation Manager/Cultural Heritage Commission Secretary ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 01 •l<m OLD BUSINESS Continued Consideration of Goodwin -Rosenbaum House Disposition (continued from June 29, 2009); a request for a recommendation to the City Council regarding the disposition of the salvaged portions of the Goodwin -Rosenbaum House and other items currently stored by the City at the Camino Real Playhouse. Project manager Teri Delcamp made the staff presentation and recommendation that the Commission view the items now that they have been removed from the Playhouse and make a recommendation to the City Council. Discussion ensued regarding plans for the train depot items that are historic but not original to San Juan Capistrano versus the salvaged portions of the house Joe Tait, Interim City Manager 2 November 10, 2009 which are connected to the town's history. Dave Davidson has expressed an interest in the salvaged portions of the house. Staff is coordinating with the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum for the depot items. Staff proposes to announce the availability of the items to the public through a press release, then negotiate with interested parties, with the alternative of a public event or auction if no agreement can be negotiated. The Commission supported the process outlined by staff in the June 29, 2009, staff report. They were in consensus, however, that some of the salvaged house items should, if possible, go to the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society. These items are; one of the original windows, and a portion of a wall panel with original wallpaper if possible. These items would be appropriate for the Historical Society to add to their existing collection of Rosenbaum family historical artifacts. NEW BUSINESS None. INFORMATION ITEM None.
