This memorandum summarizes the actions taken by the Cultural Heritage Commission
at their Tuesday, May 14, 2102 Special Meeting. No action is required unless the City
Council wishes to hold special review of.an item.
CALL TO ORDER
Chair deHaan called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS
Consideration of a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the Blas Aguilar
Adobe Nature Education Facility (NEF) Grant Project (Ed Almanza & Associates)
(CIP No. 07403) William A. Ramsey made the staff presentation and
recommendation that the Commission review and comment on the Initial Study
and Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the Blas Aguilar Adobe Nature
Education Facilities (NEF) Grant Project.
CHC Action Memorandum 2 May 14, 2012
The members of the Commission discussed and expressed their support for the
project, Initial Study, and MND.
After due consideration, Commissioner Siegel moved, and Vice -Chair Banda
seconded, to forward the Initial Study and MND to City Council with a
recommendation of approval. The motion was approved unanimously.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
None.
COMMISSION/STAFF COMMENT
Commissioner Siegel commented that the California Preservation Foundation would
hold their annual conference in Orange County in 2013. She inquired why San Juan
Capistrano was not a sponsor and said she would discuss with the San Juan
Capistrano Historical Society Board.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair deHaan adjourned the meeting at 5:29 p.m. The next regularly scheduled Cultural
Heritage Commission meeting will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. in the City
Council Chambers.
