Consideration of a Historic Depiction Program (HDP) for Architectural Control
(AC) 88-20, South Coast Christian Assembly; a request for approval of
preliminary design plans for a Historic Depiction Plan for an existing church and
classroom structure at 31501 Avenida Los Cerritos, generally located 200 feet wst
of Rancho Viejo Road, (Applicant: Tom Westerfield) (Project Manager: Nick Taylor,
Associate Planner).
Commissioner Bonney suggested that an additional plaque be placed adjacent to
Ortega Highway. Commissioner Bonney was identified as the point person for future
efforts to install the additional sign.
Commissioner Siegel made a motion, seconded by Chair Banda, to approve the
Historic Depiction Program at "Location 1" and with minor revisions to the text,
including:
Replacing "Juaneno" with "Acjachemen" in the second paragraph.
Deleting the word "valley" from the first sentence of the third paragraph.
Revising a sentence in the third paragraph to read: "This eventually sparkeii
enthusiasm in local civic leaders for a paved road to be developed."
