REGULAR MEETING
A. ORGANIZATION:
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Porter called the Regular Meeting of the Cultural Heritage Commission of the
City of San Juan Capistrano to order at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
2. ROLL CALL:
Commissioners Present: Lorie Porter, Chair
Rhonda DeHaan, Vice -Chair
Nathan Banda
Mechelle Lawrence -Adams
Christie Smead
Commissioners Absent: None
STAFF PRESENT: Joel Rojas, Development Services Director
Sergio Klotz, AICP, Assistant Development Services Director
B. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.
C. CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. Draft October 13, 2015 Cultural Heritage Commission Minutes. Approved by a
5-0 vote.
2. Draft October 27, 2015 Cultural Heritage Commission Minutes. Approved by a
5.0 vote.
3. Draft January 26, 2016 Cultural Heritage Commission Minutes Approved by a
4-0 vote (Commissioner Banda abstained).

1. Consideration of National Historic Preservation Week.
Sergio Klotz, Assistant Development Services Director made the staff
presentation and responded to questions.
The Commission recommended to the City Council adoption of a resolution in
recognition of National Preservation Week, May 1" through May 7th, 2016 in
support of National Preservation Week in order to recognize local preservation
spotlighting the Los Rios Historic District and downtown in support of the entire
community.
Approved by a 5:0 vote.
Commissioners commented on the cleanliness of downtown, accuracy of directional
signage, and condition of news racks.
Commissioner DeHaan requested an update on the possibility of a newspaper. rack
ordinance.
H. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business Chair Porter adjourned the meeting at 5:22 p.m. to
Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
