SPECIAL JOINT MEETING
A. ORGANIZATION:
1. CALL TO ORDER:
The Planning Commission Secretary called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL:
Commissioners Present:
Planning Commission: Chair Sheldon Cohen, Vice-Chair Rob Williams, and
Commissioners Thomas Nelson, Stephen Rice, Ted Shown and Mark Speros
Design Review Committee: Chair Bob Cardoza, Vice-Chair Rob Williams, and
Committee Members Stan Braden and Gerald Muir
Commissioner Absent: Lennie DeCaro, Planning Commission
Staff Present: David Contreras, Senior Planner
HongDao Nguyen, Deputy City Attorney
3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Chair led the Pledge of Allegiance.

minutes' reader, but were not necessarily heard in that order.

F. PUBLIC HEARINGS:
1. Continued Consideration of Architectural Control (AC) 15-006 and
Conditional Use Permit (CUP) 15-003, Costco Gas Station Expansion; to
expand the existing canopy, install an underground diesel storage tank,
underground fuel additive tank, three new pump islands for a total of six
pumps, new landscaping, canopy sign modification and directional ground
striping on an existing 17 acre parcel, located 600 feet west of Camino
Capistrano and 1,000 feet south of Stonehill Drive, 33949 Doheny Park Road
(Assessor Parcel Number 121-254-62)(Applicant: Costco Wholesale c/o
Sean Anderson, Barghausen Consulting Engineers, Inc.) (Project Manager:
David Contreras, Senior Planner). RECOMMENDING TO BE CONTINUED
TO OCTOBER 13, 2015 MEETING.
Approval of Motion
The Chairman opened the public hearing, closed the public hearing, and the
Commission unanimously approved a motion to continue consideration of
this project to the October 13, 2015 Planning Commission meeting.
G. INFORMATION ITEM:
None.
H. COMMISSION/STAFF DISCUSSION:
Training on Rules of Order & Procedures, Ethics Training and Brown Act
(PowerPoint Presentation will be provided at meeting).
HongDao Nguyen conducted the training and responded to questions from
the Commissioners and Committee members.
I. ADJOURNMENT:
At 8:55 p.m., there being no further business, the Design Review Committee Chair
adjourned to Thursday, October 8, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The
Planning Commission Chair adjourned to Tuesday, October 13, 2015, 6:30 p.m. in
the City Council Chambers.
