USE OF DOWNTOWN DEPOT KIOSK

It is a policy of the City Council that anyone desiring the use of the Downtown Depot
Kiosk as a location for the disbursement of non-City sponsored publications, or other such
materials, shall be required to submit a written request to the City Manager. The request
shall be in the form of a letter that includes the following.
a. A sample of the subject material requested to be distributed at the Kiosk.
b. A description of the purpose of the material distributed and how it contributes to the
preservation and quality of life of the San Juan Capistrano community.
c. The quantity requested to be distributed.
d. The estimated time frame for distribution of said material(s), including start date of
distribution.
e. Contact information regarding where to direct public inquiries involving the
publication.
Use Provisions:
The use of the Downtown Kiosk as a location for the disbursement of non-City sponsored
publications, or other such materials, shall benefit the broader San Juan Capistrano
community and shall be permitted in accordance with the following requirements:
a. Use of the Kiosk for information is generally limited to San Juan Capistrano based
organizations and/or visitor serving purposes. Exceptions may be made in the
situation that City Manager believes that the general intent is met. (I.e. Metrolink,
Amtrack, or Mission San Juan Capistrano, etc.).
b. Use of kiosk for the disbursement of non-City sponsored publications is not
permitted to benefit a single commercial business entity, or single business event
(for example, annual sale for one merchant); however, Mission San Juan
Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano Chamber, Restaurant Association, and/or
Merchant Association publications are highly encouraged and deemed suitable for
serving the community at large.
Additional information may be requested by the City Manager and/or his designee,
to allow for the further evaluation of the how the distribution of non-City sponsored
materials serves a greater community purpose. Should, at any time, the information be
deemed inappropriate and not Aresident serving@, the City reserves the right to suspend
the distribution of said publication(s).
