Subject: Blenheim Facilities Management Lease
Dear City Council Members,
As a resident of San Juan Capistrano, I very concerned about the recent
insurgence of residents opposed to the renewal of the Blenheim Facilities
Management lease.
While I understand and support the basic complaint against the lease
renewal, I don't think the equestrian community should have to suffer or
be shunned in order to meet the needs of all.
The land in question has been home to equestrian events for many years,
dating back to when the Mission Viejo Ranch owned the property. My
understanding is that the Ranch planned to develop the property, until the
City came in and purchased the land -- in part to preserve a venue for our
equestrian events and annual rodeo.
Surely there is a way to create a win --win scenario without tearing apart the
fundamental. nature and character of our town.
I am in favor of signing the lease and hopefully it can contain provisions
to accommodate the broader needs of the community.
Sincerely, Linda York
