I understand this wide dirt stretch is included in the developer's agreement with the city to provide a paved bike trail and dirt trail for the equestrians. This arrangement would be much safer for both bikes and horses. Currently there is no separation. In addition, the dirt road can be dangerous for bikes that are not mountain bikes. Please take advantage of this cost-free upgrade to the city's trail system. I was very sorry to read in the paper that the issue was not approved in November and I am glad it is coming up again for consideration. I am a 50 year resident of South Orange County and enjoy safe off highway bicycle riding on the many paved bike trails of our wonderful cities, particularly Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano. The paved trail along San Juan Creek is especially enjoyable as it traverses the tree lined path through the various parks and up past the new Reata Park to the Arroyo. The one concern to a bike rider is the rutted, rough, and sometimes muddy stretch from where the pavement currently ends to the new pavement leading into Reata Park. If you do not have moutain bike style wide tires, this stretch can be very hazardous. I urge the council to approve the planned paved bike trail through this section. VGSV This email has been sent from a virus -free computer protected by Avast. + kw www.avast.com
