Subject: Re: Alternative Bike Trail To Parts East of SJC
I am not only an avid cyclist who lives on the east side of SJC, but I am also an avid equestrian who owns/boards 4
horses in SJC and I desperately want to see this proposed path enhance/extension completed. It is my understanding
that the developer of The Oaks is required to pay for this work so it is completely unfathomable to me that The City
would do anything but green -light this project as rapidly as possible.
The City has a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE on its hands and now that it appears the desperately required widening of Ortega
highway to 4 lanes is not going to happen in my lifetime, The City needs to immediately act to approve this multi -use
trail improvement for the safety and enjoyment of its residence. The failure to do so puts The City at the risk of a
massive lawsuit if someone were ever injured riding or walling on the virtually non-esitent shoulder of the two lane
section of Ortega Highway instead of on a nice multi -use path that is not only in the City's plans but being paid for my
an independent developer as part of his entitlements for redeveloping The Oaks property.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or additional feedback.
All the best,
Michael
