I am a 50 year resident of South Orange County and enjoy safe off highway bicycle riding on the many paved bike trails of our wonderful cities, particularly Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano. The paved trail along San Juan Creek is especially enjoyable as it traverses the tree lined path through the various parks and up past the new Reata Park to the Arroyo. The one concern to a bike rider is the rutted, rough, and sometimes muddy stretch from where the pavement currently ends to the new pavement leading into Reata Park. If you do not have moutain bike style wide tires, this stretch can be very hazardous. I urge the council to approve the planned paved bike trail through this section.
