ORDINANCE NO. 231
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
AMENDING PORTIONS OF SECTION 5.08.7 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 115 RELATING TO MINIMUM PARKING SPACE RE-
QUIREMENTS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. ADOPTION OF AN INTERIM PARKING SPACE REQUIREMENT
FOR CERTAIN COMMERCIAL AND BUSINESS USES.
Pending the completion of a study and the formulation of a
more realistic formula defining the minimum parking space requirements
for certain business and commercial activities, the City Council does
hereby adopt the criteria as hereinafter set forth.
SECTION 2. AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 5.08.7, ORDINANCE NO. 115.

SECTION 3. DECLARATION OF URGENCY.
This ordinance is adopted as an urgency measure pursuant to
Section 65858 of the Government Code, and shall remain in effect for
a period of four (4) months from the date herein. The reason for the
urgency is that the general lack of parking spaces and areas for certain
businesses in the City of San Juan Capistrano has become critical.
This Council deems that the current minimum requirements are grossly
inadequate, and a study must be initiated immediately to arrive at
parking space requirements which will more nearly meet actual needs.
SECTION 4. CERTIFICATION.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance
and cause the same to be published once in a newspaper of general
circulation in the City of San Juan Capistrano within fifteen (15)
days following the passage thereof. This ordinance shall take effect
immediately.
