Section VI C.2.b. (existing)
Change to Section VI 2.c.
4. Section VI C.4.g. Architectural Design Concepts
A. General industrial uses (such as manufacturing, assembly,
testing, processing, warehousing) which occupy large
flat -roofed -type buildings shall comply with the
following design guidelines:
The architectural theme for the planning sector
should incorporate design features consistent with
the intent of the early California Spanish heritage.
It is recognized that due to large building mass,
a typical early California design may not be fully
accomplished. However, contemporary designs
incorporating mission tile and stucco will not be
acceptable. Building designs should be innovative
and incorporate the use of both vertical and
horizontal details consistent with the early
California style. Integration of building
materials and traditional design details should be
carefully used to create an architectural
statement reflective of the design theme for the
planning sector.
Such buildings are discouraged adjacent to the
freeway. In the event any such building is
proposed adjacent to the freeway, the building
design shall reflect the traditional California
Spanish theme, both in scale and attention to
detail, so as to create an environmental and
architectural setting consistent with the use.
Industrial service firms, which by their nature are
able to operate from office buildings, shall not be
permitted within any building of the type allowed in
Section A above. Buildings which are intended to be
occupied by industrial service firms shall be designed
in keeping with traditional spanish architecture, with
full pitch barrel tile roofs and other details as
specified in the City's Architectural Design Guidelines.
Such buildings are encouraged adjacent to the freeway.
