ELECTRICAL CODE FEES
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO,
CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING AN ELECTRICAL PERMIT
FEE SCHEDULE AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271
(URGENCY)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Recitations.
a. The City of San Juan Capistrano has heretofore
adopted by reference Ordinance No. 2638 of the
County of Orange which in turn adopted the
National Electrical Code, 1971 Edition with
certain exceptions and amendments thereto.
b. Effective July 1, 1978, the City of San Juan
Capistrano will undertake the administration of
all functions relating to the issuance of permits
and enforcement of ordinances relating to building
and safety.

That portion of County of Orange Ordinance No. 2638
adopted by City of San Juan Capistrano Ordinance No. 271, and
appearing as a part of Section 7-2-13 of the Codified Ordinances
of the County of Orange and setting forth the electrical permit
Schedule of Fees is amended to read as follows:

PERMIT FEES
New Construction
A. Residential: (single or multi -family) fees listed
below for new construction include, when this formula
is applied to the square footage area of the building,
all electrical installation:
Two cents ($0.02) per square foot, plus $3.00 on a
single family residence and $5.00 on a multi -family
residence for each service meter, plus $5.00 for permit
issuance.
One cent ($0.01) per square foot for attached or detached
garages or carports on the same service.
Additional $2.00 for each room where electrical radiant
heating is installed.
B. Hotels, motels: Use Regular Fee Schedule for all areas
except garages and carports. For garages and carports,
one cent ($0.01) per square foot for attached or detached
garagev or carports on the same service shall be charged
for hotel and motel occupancies.
C. Commercial and Industrial Occupancies: Use Regular Fee
Schedule.

These fees include all switches, circuit breakers, relays,
and other directly related control equipment.

Electrical Plan Check Fees:
Plan checking fees shall be equal to fifty percent
(508) of the total electrical permit fees, however,
the minimum fee shall be .........................$20.00
Plan Check Fee for Alterations or Revisions

If cost of checking plans exceeds fees paid, a charge
shall be made, per hour, of ...................... 20.00
SECTION 3. Effective Date.
This is an Urgency Ordinance to preserve the health,
safety and welfare of the City of San Juan Capistrano, and shall,
accordingly, become effective July 1, 1978. The reasons for the
urgency are that, on July 1, 1978, the City of San Juan Capistrano
will undertake the full responsibility for the issuance of
electrical permits within the City limits; a fee schedule
reflecting the current cost of providing such services is necessary
to preserve and maintain the fiscal well-being of the City.
SECTION 4. Clerk's Certification.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause same to be posted in the duly designated
posting places within the City of San Juan Capistrano within
fifteen (15) days after its passage.

June 1 1978 , by the following vote, to wit:
