AMENDMENT TO TITLE 4 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE -
ESTABLISHING OF WEIGHT LIMITS ON CITY STREETS
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 4-6.801, ARTICLE 8,
TITLE 4, OF THE SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO MUNICIPAL
CODE ESTABLISHING WEIGHT LIMITS ON CITY STREETS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Amendment.
Section 4-6.801, Article 8, Title 4, of the San Juan
Capistrano Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 4-6.801. Commercial Vehicles Prohibited
From Using Certain Streets
"Pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 35701, it shall be
unlawful for any person to operate, or cause to be
operated any commercial vehicle exceeding 12,000 pounds
gross weight at any time upon any of the following
streets:
"(a) Calle Arroyo from Avenida Siega to Rancho Viejo
Road;
"(b) Camino Capistrano from Junipero Serra Road to Del
Obispo Street;
"(c) La Novia Avenue from Ortega Highway to its
southern terminus;
"(d) Ortega Highway from Del Obispo Street to Camino
Capistrano;
"(e) Rancho Viejo Road from Junipero Serra Road to
Calle Arroyo;
"(f) San Juan Creek Road from Valle Road to its
easterly terminus;
"(g) Avenida Siega from Ortega Highway to Calle Arroyo;
"(h) Sundance Drive from Ortega Highway to Calle
Arroyo.
"The above prohibition shall not apply to the following:
"(a) Common carriers issued Certificates of Public
convenience and necessity pursuant to Public
Utilities Code Section 1031.

"(b) Commercial vehicles coming from an unrestricted
street having ingress and egress by direct route
to and from a restricted street when necessary for.
the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of
goods, wares and merchandise from or to any
building or structure located on the restricted
street or for the purpose of delivering materials
to be used in the actual and bonafide repair,
alteration, remodeling, or construction of any
building or structure upon the restricted street
for which a building permit has been previously
obtained.
"(c) Commercial vehicles owned by a public utility or a
licensed contractor while necessarily in use in
the construction, installation, or repair of any
public utility."
SECTION 2. Effective Date.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
(30) days after its passage.
SECTION 3. City Clerk's Certification.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause the same to be published once as required by
law and posted at the duly designated posting places within the
City of San Juan Capistrano within fifteen (15) days after its
passage.
