Resolution Number 67-11-20-144'5 RESOLUTION NO. 67-11-20-1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, REQUESTING THE POSTMASTER GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES TO ISSUE A COMMEMO- RATIVE UNITED STATES POSTAL STAMP IN THE YEAR 1969 TO COMMEMORATE AND MEMORIALIZE THE FOUNDING OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. WHEREAS, the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the State of California will be celebrated in 1969; and WHEREAS, an event of such importance to the State of California should be memorialized in the issuance of a commemorative United States postage stamp; and WHEREAS, the City of San Juan Capistrano, founded in the year 1776, is one of the oldest established communities in the State of California; and WHEREAS, in deference'to the original governing entities who shaped the destiny of California - Spain, Mexico, Portugal and the Vatican - the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano finds that a United States Postage Stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the State of California is appropriate and proper. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano that it urge and it does hereby urge upon and respectfully request the Postmaster General of the United States to issue a commemorative United States Postage Stamp in the year 1969 to commemorate and.memorialize the founding of the State of California. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 20th day of November, 1967.
