RESOLUTION NO. 71-11-8-3
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO URGING THE BOARD OF SUPER-
VISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO RENEW THE
LEASE AGREEMENTS WITH AIR CALIFORNIA AND AIR
WEST AT THE ORANGE COUNTY AIRPORT
WHEREAS, flight service by Air California and Air West from
the Orange County Airport has been enjoyed and become essential to the
citizens of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Southern Orange County residents, including those
of San Juan Capistrano, are dependent upon scheduled air service within
a reasonable distance from their businesses and homes; and
WHEREAS, the local government officials of Orange County have
been able to take advantage of the superior convenience of departure
and arrival at the Orange County Airport through the use of the facili-
ties of Air California and Air West; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano,
on behalf of itself and on behalf of the many citizens of Orange County
making use of the facilities, would urge the continuance of such leases
so that Air California and Air West will be in a position to meet the
growing needs of an expanding Orange County.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of San Juan Capistrano that it urge and it does hereby urge the Board
of Supervisors of the County of Orange to renew the leases of Air
California and Air West for the use of the Orange County Airport facili-
ties so that there will be no break in the continuity of convenience to
air travelers to or from Orange County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in consideration of the leases
of Air California and Air West that the Board of Supervisors take all
reasonable steps to insure adequate air transportation to all residents
of Orange County.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
forwarded to the City Councils of each of the cities of Orange County
with a request that they join the City of San Juan Capistrano in this
effort to maintain adequate, complete and convenient air service for
all of the citizens of Orange County.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 8th day of November, 1971
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of San Juan
Capistrano by the following vote, to wit:
