Resolution Number 74-3-12-4RESOLUTION NO. 74-3-12-4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO COMMENDING JAMES F. THORPE FOR SERVICES TO HIS COMMUNITY WHEREAS, COUNCILMAN THORPE has, with characteristic aptness, termed the period of his office (April, 1970 - March, 1974) as an era of "a little town with big -city problems"; and WHEREAS, JAMES F. THORPE was always in the forefront of those who met big -city problems with the incisiveness of a mathematician, the insight and imagination of a political science scholar, and the concern and compassion of a dedicated public servant; and WHEREAS, MAYOR THORPE'S representation of the City of San Juan Capistrano before other public bodies and organizations has brought esteem to our little city and focused attention upon the caliber of our public officers; and WHEREAS, JAMES F. THORPE'S eloquence and fair-minded approach to all problems are indeed inspiring legacies for, Councilmen to come; and WHEREAS, COUNCILMAN THORPE has by his own volition, chosen not to seek another term of office. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano that this little city is pro- foundly grateful for Councilman Thorpe's services to our commu- nity; his enthusiasm and wise counsel will be sorely missed; his concern and dedication will, however, remain to be emulated by those of us who will serve in the future. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that JAMES F. THORPE be and is hereby designated ex -officio councilman emeritus and relegated to join the ranks of "one of the outstanding".
