A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING
PROPOSITION 43 (COMMUNITY PARKLANDS ACT OF
1986), WHICH PLACES BEFORE THE VOTERS OF
CALIFORNIA ON JUNE 3, 1986, A MEASURE TO
PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PARKS AND RECREATIONAL
LAND ACQUISITION, RESTORATION, DEVELOPMENT,
AND OTHER RELATED PURPOSES

WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs vastly enhance
our environment and our lives; and,
WHEREAS, leisure facilities and open spaces in both
urban and rural areas are a necessity to life since they have a
substantial effect on mental and physical health, economic
productivity and social problems; and,
WHEREAS, Proposition 43 would place before the voters
of California a measure to provide financing for the program of
acquiring, developing or restoring real property for state and
local park and recreational purposes; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed program will make available
additional or augment existing recreation areas and add or
improve facilities in and near population centers; and,
WHEREAS, enhancement of parks, conservation of natural
resources and historic preservation projects have a direct
economic benefit to our community and the state as a whole and,
moreover, will benefit the health and well-being of Californians.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of San Juan Capistrano endorses Proposition 43
(Community Parklands Act of 1986), which would provide local
government funding for parks and recreational land acquisition,
restoration, development and other related purposes.
