Resolution Number 90-5-15-7RESOLUTION NO. 90-5-15-7 REQUESTING FUNDING - AGRICULTURAL MANAGEMENT PLAN A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING FUNDING FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE COASTAL CONSERVANCY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN AGRICULTURAL MANAGEMENT PLAN WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano adopted its current General Plan on December 18, 1974, and with that established an Agricultural Preservation Program recognizing many inherent benefits of maintaining agricultural land use in the community; and, WHEREAS, on December 5, 1989, the City Council placed on the ballot for special election a $21,000,000 Bond Issue to preserve open space and recreational areas within our community; and, WHEREAS, as part of this Open Space Bond Issue, the City has made a commitment to pursue alternatives in an effort to maintain and preserve agricultural programs in our community; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has authorized staff to move forward on the development of an Open Space Master Plan as a result of the Bond Measure passing, and the City Council will direct staff to include in the Open Space Master Plan a specific Agricultural Management Plan to address the uses of agricultural farmland as part of the total Open Space and Recreational Master Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano as follows: The City Council hereby requests funding from the California State Conservancy for development of an Agricultural Management Plan. The Plan will be an integral part of the Open Space Master Plan in the purchase, maintenance and development of 140 acres designated through the Open Space Bond Measure passed in April, 1990.
