24-0220_PAUL VALENZUELA TRUST_Correspondence_F2aFebruary 15, 2024 Honorable Mayor and City Council: I am writing today to express my gratitude for your support of the equestrian community in San Juan Capistrano and to ask you to approve the resolution of intention to abandon and sell the portion of city- owned parkland located at 28432 Calle Arroyo (Mission Trails Property) to the Paul J. Valenzuela Trust. Betty Valenzuela, Teeter Romero and I obtained a lease for the above property from the city of San Juan Capistrano over 40 years ago and along with the help of our husbands built Mission Trails Stables with the promise from the city that there would always be a place for horses to thrive and utilize the beautiful open space and miles of trails in SJC. I’m proud that you are protecting our horse community from destruction. I fear that greed could undo generations of careful work that has been done to maintain the equestrian lifestyle in our community. I hope that our city continues to protect our open space, our horse facilities, and miles of trails that allow for human exploration rather than giving in to corporate interest and short-term profit. Please keep our heritage strong and approve the Purchase of the property to Paul. I believe he will strive to maintain a safe family atmosphere and preserve a lifestyle that many residents cherish. Sincerely, Katherine Holman Ortega Equestrian Center 2/8/2024 F2a
