Resolution of Intention
•Finds that the public interest and convenience require the sale of
City-owned property.
•Declares the property surplus and exempt from the Surplus Land
Act.
•Sets a date of a public hearing for consideration of a purchase
agreement and any protests to the property sale.

Outreach to Neighboring Properties
•Staff received an informal purchase offer for the Calle Arroyo parcel
from Mr. Socci, the Ortega Cottages owner.
•Staff contacted St. Margaret’s and the operator of the Ortega
Equestrian Center to gauge interest in potentially acquiring the
property.
•Discussions with St. Margaret’s and the Ortega Equestrian Center
did not mature into a formal purchase offer from either.
•Staff recommends accepting the $150,000 purchase offer from Mr.
Socci.

Next Steps
•Pending City Council approval of the Resolution of Intention, staff
would return to the City Council at the March 2 meeting with a
recommendation to complete the transaction via approval of a
Purchase and Sale Agreement.

Recommendations:
1.Approve the Resolution of Intention declaring the City’s intent to
sell the 1.09-acre City-owned Calle Arroyo parcel to R&H Land
Partners;and,
2.Declare the property surplus land exempt from the Surplus Land
Act;and,
3.Set a hearing date of March 2 for consideration of a purchase
agreement and any protests to the property sale.
