RECOMMENDATION: By motion, approve the purchase of the Hach Water Information Management Solution (Hach WIMS) Software Package. SITUATION: Hach Water Information Management Solution (Hach WIMS) Software is designed specifically for drinking water and wastewater systems, providing tools for automatic analysis, report writing, and monitoring. Pre-programmed templates, wizards, built-in calculations, and tools simplify report generation and data analysis, resulting in less human interface. The result from use of this program will reduce staff hours needed to develop these reports. The bid includes two custom designed dashboards designed to provide information at a glance on system key performance indicators (KPI). SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION: Currently the Utilities Department is not utilizing software for laboratory analysis nor do we have a software program to help water treatment plant operators monitor or track Reverse Osmosis (RO) Train System performance. The software will also help take ground water well monitoring data and store it using a built in historian. Hach WIMS software is compatible with most Computer Maintenance Managements Systems (CMMS) using a sequel data base. Per Councilmember inquiry, at the August 3 City Council meeting, the attached quote has been revised to detail the reporting modules that will be developed by the Hach Co.as part of the WIMS implementation. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Bids were solicited and received from two qualified vendors, with Hach WIMS being the lowest bidder. Capital Improvement Funds will be allocated from the SCADA System Expansion Project (CIP#07806) at $29,300.00. Maria Morris, CMC City Clerk cc: Hach Water San Juan Capistrano: Preserving the Past to Enhance the Future 8/3/2010 AGENDA REPORT D10 TO: Joe Tait, City Manager FROM: West Curry, Assistant Utilities Director SUBJECT: Consideration of Purchasing Hach Water Information Management Solution (Hach WIMS) Software. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Bids were solicited and received from two qualified vendors, with Hach WIMS being the lowest bidder. Capital Improvement Funds will be allocated from the SCADA System Expansion Project (CIP#07806) at $29,300.00.
