Mocalis, City Manager FROM: W. D. Murphy, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF CONTRACT FOR SOILS TESTING (COUNTY OF ORANGE) SITUATION: The County of Orange, by contract, provides soils testing and laboratory services for the City of San Juan Capistrano. Staff has found the provision of these services to be adequate and desires to maintain the existing contract; if no action is taken the existing contract will remain in effect. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: The cost of services rendered is an ongoing expense in the City's normal operations. The maintenance of the contract merely provides for soils testing, and the choice of agents used does not have a significant financial impact. ALTERNATE ACTIONS: 1. Approve the contract. 2. Do not approve the contract. 3. Direct staff to acquire competitive bids. RECOMMENDATION: By motion, approve the existing contract and direct staff to maintain the existing contract with the County of Orange for soils testing services. Respectfully submitted, /i "' il W.
