This letter will constitute the agreement between the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society
(Society) and the City of San Juan Capistrano (City) for the purposes of establishing a
cooperative partnership to publish a book, "A Guide to Historic San Juan Capistrano". Pursuant
to this agreement, the following will occur:
The Historical Society will contract with the Paragon Agency for the purposes of publishing "A
Guide to Historic San Juan Capistrano". The book will consist of a soft cover book,
approximately 200 pages, black and white text, graphics and photos. The cover will be full color
coated paper. The initial printing of the book will be 250 copies and 1,000 covers. Additional
book copies will be printed as sales are made. The Society will take full responsibility for
providing to the publisher all text, graphic and photographic material needed for the book. The
Society will be the lead organization for promoting and selling the book, and may establish any
agreements with the publisher as the Society deems appropriate.
The City of San Juan Capistrano will pay the Society the sum of $1,024 (One thousand, twenty
four dollars) as a contribution to the project due to its opportunity to benefit the community and
make readily available to the public historical information about San Juan Capistrano. The
Society will enter into agreement with the Paragon Agency directly: the City will not be a party to
this agreement. In return for its financial contribution, the City will receive 50 (fifty ) copies of the
book at no charge to use for its own purposes. The books will be available to the City by June
30, 2000. The City may purchase additional books at the Society's cost of $6.00 per copy. The
City will make available to the Society any materials, maps or photos in its possession which may
be of interest for the successful completion of this project.
If these terms are acceptable, please countersign and date this letter and return one copy of it to
me. Upon receipt of the letter, the City will process a check to the Historical Society for its share
of the project. The funds will be available to the Society within 30 days from that date. The City
