REGULAR MEETING TELEPHONIC MEETING ORGANIZATION:
Chair Siegel called the Regular and Telephonic Meeting of August 25, 2020, of the
Cultural Heritage Commission of the City of San Juan Capistrano to order at 4:31 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMISSIONER PRESENT: Chair Janet Siegel, Vice-Chair Ann Ronan and Commissioners Anna Dickinson, Howard Newman and Porter.
STAFF PRESENT: Sergio Klotz, Assistant Development Services Director Paul Garcia, Associate Planner

Commissioner Newman led the Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC HEARINGS: D1. Consideration of Site Plan Review (SPR) 20-001 and a determination of physical and aesthetic compatibility with structures and places identified on the Inventory of Historic Cultural Landmarks (IHCL), for Calvary Chapel; A request to
construct an open pergola on the existing first level patio and on an existing second level deck on property at 31612 El Camino Real (APN 124-170-11), a listed structure on the City’s Inventory of Historic & Cultural Landmarks (IHCL) known as the Community Christian Church (Applicant: Bruce Manzer, Manzer & Associates)(Project Manager: Paul Garcia, Associate Planner).
Paul Garcia, Associate Planner provided presentation and responded to questions. Bruce Manzer, made the presentation and responded to questions telephonically.
CHAIR Siegel opened the Public Hearing and no members of the public provided public testimony to the Cultural Heritage Commission. Commission Action: After reviewing the development, Commissioner Ronan
made a motion to take staff recommendation and further condition that The pergola’s shall be provided with a white paint and/or stain to match the color of the building, seconded by Commissioner Dickinson to adopt a resolution approving SPR 20-001 and make a finding that the proposed land use improvements are of physical and aesthetic compatibility with adjacent IHCL
structures and places, as described in City Council Policy 603 by a 5:0 vote. ROLL CALL: AYES: COMMISSIONER: Dickinson, Newman, Ronan Porter and Siegel.
