Approval of Agreement - Exterior Painting, San Juan Capistrano
Library (Raider Painting Co.)
The San Juan Capistrano Library, located at the corner of El Camino Real and
Acjachema Streets, was constructed as a joint project between Orange County and the
City of San Juan Capistrano. In 1982, an amended lease was signed by the County and
City. In this lease, the City is obligated to paint the exterior of the Library every five
years. The County will reimburse the City for 70% of the cost of painting.
The first five year painting was due to be performed in April of 1989. However, due to a
proposed addition to the Library, the painting has been postponed. At this time, the
timing of the addition is not known and the condition of the Library exterior requires
immediate attention.
Due to the urgency of the need to paint the facility and the approach of the rainy season,
this project was not advertised for bids. However, six different painting contractors
have been notified and bids for the project have been received from four of these
contractors. References have been received and checked on these contractors. The bids
are as follows:
1. Raider Painting Co.
$23,600.00
2. Mobley Custom Coatings
$29,462.50
3. AA -1 Painting Service, Inc.
$35,525.00
4. Reynolds Construction
$36,000.00
The low bidder is Raider Painting Company. The references provided by Raider have
been checked and present no problems.
