D. Murphy, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Approval of Plans and Specifications and Authorization to Call for Bids - Land Outfall Trunk Line Sewer Reconstruction, Stonehill Drive to Calle Jardin SITUATION Staff is requesting approval of the plans, specifications and cost estimate and authorization to receive bids for the reconstruction of the City's land outfall sewer from Stonehill Drive to Calle Jardin a distance of approximately 1900 feet. The existing sewer line is epoxy lined, asbestos cement pipe which has suffered damage due to "crown corrosion" or hydrogen sulfide degeneration of the asbestos cement behind the epoxy lining. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS The engineer's estimate for this project is $172,000. A contract for $49,650 has recently started for a downstream phase. $250,000 was funded for these projects in the 1981-82 budget and this would be rebudgeted in the 1982-83 budget. ALTERNATE ACTIONS 1. Approve the project. 2. Do not approve the project. 3. Require more information before acting.
