SJC Mayor, Council and Staff,
It has just come to my attention that you are considering low-income housing adjacent to city
hall. This brings to mind so many negatives.
* Increased traffic on that short, narrow street.
* Parking availability for staff and all of us re city hall and Sheriff's substation.
* Crime (your cars broken into), loitering, littering.
* Police and fire truck ease of access.
In all cities which have low-cost apartments, it is a matter of a few years before they become
run-down, crime-ridden slums. Examples: Pasadena, Chicago, NYC.
Many California cities work around and/or ignore foolish edicts from Sacramento. See
Brentwood, Rancho Santa Fe, etc.
Please do not box yourselves in. Please do not clamor for a new city hall located elsewhere
when the low-cost housing foolishness you put in becomes untenable.
Sincerely,
PJDouglas
