Re: 07/21/20 City Council Meeting, Agenda Item F2a
July 21, 2020
Dear City Council and City Staff,
I am a longtime proponent of the Paseo Adelanto Parking Lot Expansion Project, and am writing in support of city staff
recommendations for tonight’s Agenda Item F2a. I believe the design fits the needs of the Los Rios Historic District, as
well as the City of San Juan Capistrano.
Being both a resident and current business owner in the Los Rios Historic District, the parking challenges have been
daunting over the past several years. We appreciate the City’s help in evaluating the parking needs of the district and
the City, and executing a plan to expand on the current parking. This brings much needed additional spaces to local
businesses that have been negatively impacted by lack of public parking.
In addition to being in support of the expanded parking, I am asking for proper wayfinding signage to the district’s
parking lots, as well as on paths from the parking lot(s) leading people to the Los Rios Historic District and City of San
Juan Capistrano. Clear signage and navigation tools will create a cohesive feel, as well as help merchants on the street
and in downtown SJC – most importantly, proper and adequate signage will help reduce people circling trying to find
parking/illegally parking (which happens regularly, especially in our district, because they do not know what is public,
what is private, where it is illegal to park, etc.).
Thank you for your assistance with this matter – we look forward to welcoming this expanded parking lot off of Paseo
Adelanto, enhancing the district for both residents and visitors alike. If there are questions, please feel free to contact
me.
Respectfully,
Damian Orozco
