SUBJECT: Mission Well Rehabilitation

Description: Mission Well has stopped working and requires rehabilitation before a new
well pump and motor can be installed. The major tasks associated with the
rehabilitation process include 'removal of the existing pump, motor and
column piping, clean up and inspect the pump and motor and provide an
assessment of their condition, clean up the existing column piping for re-
use, chemically treat, swab and brush well screen to remove fouling, video
the well (includes pre and post cleaning video and reports), airlift debris
from well to holding tank to separate solids and liquids, haul off and dispose
of solids, neutralize and pump liquid waste to sewer. Remove corroded 12
inch diameter well liner. The City has an approved on-call contract program
with 3 vendors, of which Legend Pump&Well Service Inc. is available and
qualified,to provide these services. Therefore staff recommends that the
City Manager approve a task order in the amount not to exceed $33,500
(includes 10% contingency to account for unforeseen conditions) for the
Mission Well rehabilitation work described above.

Staff Analysis&Recommendation: Legend Pump&Well Service Inc. is available and qualified to,
provide these services, and has performed well on past City projects. Therefore staff recommends
that the City Manager approve a task.order in the amount not to exceed $33,500 for the Mission
Well rehabilitation work described above.
