The RFP initial submittals look very interesting and both have good components to them. 9/17/2019 F1a I would just urge that, moving forward, any retail or quasi-retail use (restaurants, glamping, shops, etc.) of the land be removed. Here's why: There are literally thousands of retail opportunities out there in the world. I would urge the City to preserve, as closely as possible, the original farmscape of this land. SJC has done such a good job, compared to its' neighbors, at preserving the old California that has been bulldozed everywhere else. I also have my doubts regarding the number of soccer fields proposed . I literally ride by several soccer fields on my bicycle rides and never see them in use. It makes me wonder about the need for more. I also believe it imprudent with the current water situation to add many acres of intensive care grass. My hope is that the land will be preserved as largely open space with trails and preservation of the existing farm buildings . There are probably several small scale growers within the community who would love to have access to the land to farm. A community farm stand similar to what has always been there would be a great continuum for that part of town and Dana. There are many more ideas I'm sure you've received from the community as well. I just fea r th e loss of more four 'Old a lifornia' to trendy but fleeting land uses that would generate income and b e nefit fo r very few people who lik ly don't eve n live in SJC. Thanks for reading this and adding it to the record. I appreciate it very much! Sincerely, Cathy Pechstedt 1
