Huber, Director of Engineering & Building SUBJECT: Resolution, Notice of Completion and Final Report - Basketball Court Lights at Old Serra High School, CIP 454 (Creative Lighting, Inc.) I: • ulul ►I� s � Adopt a Resolution, determining that the work for the Basketball Court lights at Old Serra High School project has been completed, declaring the work to be accepted and directing the City Clerk to forward a Notice of Completion to the County Recorder for recordation. Authorize Staff to release the 10 percent retention in the amount of $ 2,715.40 thirty-five (35) days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion. This project consisted of the construction and installation of eight light fixtures "shoebox" style, 1000 -watt metal halide, mounted on six poles about 24 feet high each, around the perimeter of the two side-by-side basketball courts. The construction of the project has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and is ready for acceptance by the City Council and recordation of a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder. On September 6, 1994, the City Council approved the combined plans and specifications for the capital improvement project and authorized Staff to receive bids. On October 19, 1994, bids were opened and the low responsible bidder was determined to be Creative Lighting, Inc. at $26,790. On November 15, 1994, Council awarded the project to Creative Lighting, Inc. All work was performed according to plans and specifications to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENt. : �Z7 4 0 • AGENDA ITEM March 7, 1995 Page 2 On May 10, 1994, the Planning Commission recommended the City Council to approve the lighting system conceptual plan. On June 21, 1994, the City Council approved such conceptual plan by Resolution No. 94-6-21-7, based on its consistency with the City General Plan's design policies and provisions of Title 9. An amount of $43,000 from Park funds has been budgeted in Account No. 12-65300-4704-454 this fiscal year for the subject project. Additional effort and time were put on trenching for conduit placement due to hard rocks/concrete area encountered at the bottom landing of the Library stairs at an additional cost of $614.00, and Liquidated Damages of $ 250.00 for one day delay were applied. The net result amounted to only an additional $ 364.00 for extra work. The total construction cost paid to Creative Lighting, Inc. was $ 27,154.00. The final costs were as follows: IMM 114 AM Budgeted Amount $43,000.00 Design Cost $3,800.00 Construction Cost $27,154.00 Engineering Administration - Inspection and Overhead $2,300.00 Total Cost $33,254.00 NOTIFICATION The public was previously notified, in accordance with the adopted City Council Policy, prior to the City Council approval of the conceptual plan at their May 10, 1994 meeting. 0 •► 1. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING WORK TO BE COMPLETED AS TO PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF BASKETBALL COURT LIGHTS AT THE OLD SERRA HIGH SCHOOL (CREATIVE LIGHTING, INC.) WHEREAS, on the 15th day of November, 1994, the City of San Juan Capistrano entered into a contract with Creative Lighting, Inc., 1235 Red Gum Street, Anaheim, California 92806, for construction of basketball court lights at the Old Serra High School on Camino Capistrano, north of Acjachema Street; and, WHEREAS, the Director of Engineering and Building has evaluated the final quantities and cost figures and recommends approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of San Juan Capistrano as follows: SECTION 1. That the work required to be performed by said Contractor has been completed. SECTION 2. That the total cost of said work is in the amount of $27,154.00. SECTION 3. That the work is hereby accepted and approved. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk is directed to forthwith forward a "Notice of Completion" to the County Recorder of the County of Orange for recording.
