Dear City Council Members;
Re: License Agreement and Waiver of Fees for CREER to use Stone Field Office Building
As a thirty six year resident of San Juan Capistrano, I am very concerned about the license
agreement with CREER that will be considered at the June 1, 2010 meeting.
There should be no waiver of fees unless the city waivers all fees for all non-profit organizations in
the city. Otherwise it would be very discriminatory. The Stone Field Office Building room should
be open to any non-profit organizations and just not for the use of CREER.
We are concerned about the License Agreement wording. Wilt there be limited use of days and
hours, or will it be a free use any time of day or night? We live across the street and do not think
that the building should be open every day and night. There have been times in the past that the
CREER had been open at 9:00 pm on a Sunday night. That seems like excessive use of the
building and an inappropiate time for a meeting. The length of the license agreement is a
concern. Other non-profit organizations should have a chance to use the building. So a two-year
agreement is too long. After one year another non-profit organization should have the opportunity
to use the building.
We have concerns with the non-profit organization CREER. We do not feel that CREER
represents the whole community of San Juan Capistrano. We prefer that San Juan Capistrano
does not become ano support a sanctuary area for illegal immigrants.
We live across the street from the Stone Field Office Building and have many issues with the use
in the past. People ring our door bell at all times of day and night Inquiring if this is where CREER
is held Unfortunately we have the same address of 31322 and everyone assumes that our house
is the meeting piece.
Who will be in charge of handling the keys, keeping the area clean and maintaining the correct
use of the building and the bathrooms?
If CREER uses the building for alcohol anonymous and narcotics anonymous (as they have in the
past), this would be inappropriate because the area is near a pre-school, a high school and
soccer field were young people are studying and/or praying.
We do not see the need for the city council to approve this License Agreement and Waiver of
Fees for the CREER organization. The city council has not given other non-profit organizations an
opportunity to use this building and there are truly many non-profit organizations that fulfill the
needs of the whole community and just not the Latino community.
Thank you for taking time to consider our views. `
