Murphy, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Major Improvements of Streets and Sidewalks in the City of San Juan Capistrano SITUATION: As a result of the City Council 's approval of the plans and specifications for the subject project, the following bids were received on January 7, 1977: 1 . T. J. Crosby Company $31,328.60 2. Orange Coast Construction Co. 38,722.80 3 . D. W. Contracting Company 41,637.00 A unit breakdown of all the bids is available for inspection in the office of the City Engineer. This office has reviewed the technical qualifications of the low bidder, T. J. Crosby Company, and found them acceptable to the City. The California First Bank has agreed to pay for that portion of the sidewalk removal and reconstruction on their property. Of the 6,430 square feet of sidewalk to be reconstructed, 4, 175 square feet are bank property. The reimbursement amount will be $12,099 . 15, which includes 15% for administrative costs . The bank has also granted the City additional right-of-way in exchange for sidewalk improvements . FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS : The funds for this project were budgeted in the 1976-77 City budget. The Engineer' s estimate for this project was $38,951 . 10. The California First Bank will reimburse the City $12,099. 15. This figure includes $10, 521 on the contract and $1, 578.15 for adminis- trative costs . ALTERNATE ACTIONS : 1. Accept the low bid in the amount of $31,328.60 submitted by the T. J. Crosby Company. 2. Refer to Staff for further study. 3 . Reject all bids and direct Staff to readvertise. FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA . .. ... 6� James S. J. Crosby Company in the amount of $31,328.60 for the total contract bid , award the contract, and authorize the Mayor to execute the agreements, both with the California First Bank and the Contractor.
