Murphy, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Agreement For Federal Highway Administration Funds, Camino Capistrano Bridge (Caltrans District 7) SITUATION: Staff is requesting approval of an agreement with District 7 of Caltrans for funding of construction of the Camino Capistrano Bridge. A copy of the agreement is available in the office of the City Clerk. The agreement is twenty pages in length and has therefore not been enclosed with this memorandum. A brief Resolution is enclosed for approval due to a State requirement. The project is going forward on schedule with an anticipated October starting date. With numerous agency approvals yet to be acquired, that date is subject to change. Staff shall inform the City Council of any major changes. BOARD/COMMISSIONS REVIEW, RECOMMENDATION Not applicable FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: The agreement provides that the City will invoice Caltrans for expenses incurred as the project goes forward. As proposed, the County and City will fund the local matching share which is 14% of the cost, and Federal Highway Administration shall, through Caltrans, provide 86% of the construction costs. The necessary funds for the City's participation are reflected in the budget for the coming year. ALTERNATE ACTIONS: 1. Approve the agreement. 2. Do not approve the agreement. 3. Direct that changes to the agreement be negotiated with Caltrans. RECOMMENDATION: By Resolution, approve Agreement No. 07-5372 with Caltrans District 7 for the funding of the Camino Capistrano Bridge at San Juan Creek reconstruction. Respectfully submitted, W. D.
